27.02.2026 2nd Mechanics Day

Event: 2nd Symposium “Day of Mechanics” organized by the Serbian Society of Mechanics and Faculty of Engineering

Date: 27.02.2026.

Project leader Professor Miroslav Živković gave an introductory lecture on the Day of Mechanics held at the Faculty of Engineering, Kragujevac, entitled “Numerical methods for structural strength analysis in the PAK software.” After a brief review of the history of PAK and an overview of the most important modules with examples of practical applications, Professor Živković presented to the attendees the development of the new PAK-DAM program within the PROMINENT project.

After Professor Živković presentation, the following young researchers from Belgrade, Novi Sad, Niš, and Kragujevac showcased their work:

• Nikola Despenić (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Niš): Mathematical modeling of free oscillations of functionally gradient nanostructures
• Lidija Rehlicki Lukešević (Faculty of Technical Sciences, Novi Sad): On the stability of rods on an elastic substrate
• Teodor Vrećica (Mathematical Institute of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, Belgrade): Dispersion relations of water waves – properties and applications
• Vukašin Slavković (Faculty of Engineering Sciences, Kragujevac): Material modeling in the field of 4D printing

Over 40 guests had great experience, valuable discussions, and made new connections with the PROMINENT project team.

25.11.2025.-28.11.2025. BECCSI 2025

Our team members Vladimir Dunić and Aleksandar Bodić took part in the 1st Biennial ESIS-CSIC Conference on Structural Integrity (BECCSI 2025), held from 25–28 November in Belgrade, Serbia.

On the third day of the conference (27.11.2025), Aleksandar Bodić presented the paper entitled:
“Comparative evaluation of experimental and phase-field modeling approaches in the tensile response of S1100QL steel”, delivered in Session 3, Ivo Andrić Hall.

BECCSI 2025 gathered leading experts in structural integrity, offering an excellent opportunity to connect with researchers from other institutions, exchange ideas, and explore future collaborations. The event provided a dynamic platform for discussing new manufacturing technologies, updates in codes and standards, and key engineering challenges—all with the shared goal of advancing structural integrity and preventing failures.

Great experience, valuable discussions, and new connections for the PROMINENT project!

Danubia-Adria Symposia have a long tradition and they are organized under the auspices of the Danubia-Adria Society (DAS) on Experimental Methods founded in 1983.
This year, conference is organized by Serbian Society of Mechanics (SSM) with Miroslav Živković, Faculty of Engineering Univesity of Kragujevac serving as a Chairman of the Symposium and Vladimir P. Milovanović as Vice-chairman with Vladimir Dunić playinh the role of the Scientific Secretary
During the 41st Danubia-Adria Symposium on Advances in Experimental Mechanics, held from 23 to 26 September, 2025. in Kragujevac, Serbia, the entire PROMINENT team presented 6 papers in total.

This was the great opportunity for all team members to present project results supported by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia, #GRANT No 7475, Prediction of damage evolution in engineering structures – PROMINENT.

02.09.2025.-05.09.2025. COMPLAS 2025

#PROMINENT at #COMPLAS 2025 in Barcelona in period 02.09.-05.09.2025.

Prof. Vladimir Dunić presented the PROMINENT team’s latest results at COMPLAS 2025, delivering the talk “PHASE-FIELD DRUCKER-PRAGER MODEL FOR CONCRETE,” co-authored with Miroslav Živković and Dragan Rakić. The presentation was part of Minisymposium 1001A: Computational Geomechanics I. Prof. Dunić highlighted phase-field damage modeling of concrete based on the well-known Drucker–Prager constitutive model and compared the numerical predictions with experimental uniaxial tests. He also took the opportunity to meet with the PROMINENT project partners (prof. Nikola Tošić) at the UPC and discuss project progress and future activities.

We are grateful to CIMNE for organizing COMPLAS 2025 and for providing an excellent venue for discussion, knowledge sharing, and the exchange of research results with leading scientists in computational plasticity.

During the 11th International Scientific Conference IRMES 2025 Research and Development of Mechanical Elements and Systems, held from 19 to 21 June, 2025 in Vrnjačka Banja, Serbia, Vladimir Milovanović, a member of the PROMINENT team, was Plenary speaker.

Vladimir Milovanović held Plenary Lecture PB3 titled „STRAIN AND STRESS/FORCE-CONTROLLED FATIGUE TESTING OF METALLIC MATERIALS, POST-PROCESSING OF EXPERIMENTALLY OBTAINED RESULTS AND APPLICATION IN FEA” and had present project results supported by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia, #GRANT No 7475, Prediction of damage evolution in engineering structures – PROMINENT.

18.06.2025.-20.06.2025. 10th International Congress of the Serbian Society of Mechanics (ICSSM 2025)

The team member Vladimir Dunic participated at the 10th International Congress of the Serbian Society of Mechanics (ICSSM 2025) organized in period 18.06.-20.06.2025. in Niš, Serbia. 
He participated during the first day of the congress (on 18.06.2025.) as a member of the committee for the Rastko Stojanović Award for the best work of young researchers. He extended the research network by meetings with the researchers from Serbian universities and visiting researchers. Also, he had a meeting with the representatives of Prager Electronics and DANTEC Dynamics.
During the second day (on 19.06.2025.), he delivered a presentation under the title “Phase-field modeling of concrete: numerical simulation and experimental verification” and chaired a Session C in Room: FME 608 B in period from 11:15-12:45. During the Congress, he actively participated in selected lectures and presentations. Also, he participated at the SSM Annual and Election Assembly of the Serbian Society of Mechanics.

Team members participated in the special workshop titled “DAAD Workshop 2025 Advanced Numerical Methods in Engineering Tasks” which took place at Technische Universität Berlin between 19.05.2025.-23.05.2025. The event was organized within German international cooperation framework DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst): project “Numerical Methods in Engineering Tasks” (1-3002098-01-EF).

Professor Dunić presented PROMINENT project within the presentation “Phase-field Drucker-Prager Model for Concrete” and discussed possibilities for future cooperation with workshop participants.

Event: The International Fair of Techniques and Technical Achievements

At the International Fair of Techniques and Technical Achievements, which is happening at Belgrade Fair from May 21 to May 24, 2024, team member Snežana Vulović showcased PROMINENT project.
Specializing in manufacturing technologies, the International Fair of Techniques and Technical Achievements is the oldest technical and technological exhibition event in this region of Europe.
It started out in 1937 and provides an overview of the engineering state of the art and serves as an initiator of progress and advancement.

Since 1957, it has been a part of the International Union of Fairs (UFI, Paris).

May 14–16, 2025 – Participation at SERBIATRIB ‘25 – 19th International Conference on Tribology

Miloš Pešić, a member of the PROMINENT research team, presented the paper titled “Finite Element Analysis of Stress and Contact Pressure in Steel Plates Under Varying Friction Coefficients” at the SERBIATRIB ‘25 – 19th International Conference on Tribology, held from May 14 to 16, 2025, in Kragujevac. The presentation served as an opportunity to showcase the research activities and objectives of the PROMINENT project to the international tribology research community.
