The second year of PROMINENT project realization had a great start: the MATEST testing machine was assembled and put to the test (pun intended). A section of building “A” at the Faculty of Engineering was renovated, and a team of MATEST technicians installed the machine and held a short course for PROMINENT team members about safety procedures and proper testing methodology. The results of the first test carried out were just as expected, exactly like theory and simulations predicted. Now numerical procedures that are being implemented into PAK-DAM can have experimental validation, which will greatly improve the number and quality of published papers, and will hopefully benefit industry and civil engineering projects as well.
